Skill in Village (SiV)

An after-school program for primary & upper primary students in rural areas to build their confidence and ensure their holistic development.

Introduction

SiV is an after-school program for students in primary and upper primary classes (Grade 5-8) of government schools in rural areas to equip them with life skills and English communication skills. The program is designed to develop their confidence, leadership qualities and interpersonal skills. It aspires to improve enrolments and reduce dropouts in these schools.

Our program model gets embedded in the communities, steadily knitting itself with the various stakeholders—students, parents, School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC) members, and Panchayats.

Impact

The program has built confidence amongst students from government schools. We are on our journey to impact the lives of many more students as a step towards rural transformation. In addition to Karnataka and Telangana, we have just started the program in the state of Maharashtra.
